Tom,
My boat was docked on Stock Island as this location is very close to the race course. I don’t know if you are aware of a nasty stomach bug that was rampant on the island. We had a total of 11 people come down for the event of which 5 got this nasty bug. On Thursday both foredeck people and myself had not been able to eat a proper meal for at least 24 hours. Our performance suffered on Thursday due to this ailment. On Friday our condition was worse and at the least I knew we would not be able to perform up to our capabilities, at the worst somebody could get seriously hurt as the day was calling for 3 races in winds expected to be over 20kts, much like tuesdays conditions. Typically we would relish these conditions yet this bug sapped our strength and I did not want to risk our safety. This was a major disappointment as I felt that if we were healthy I believe we could have done well enough to gain a podium position.
