Doug,
My boat, a 1990 model, had the floor replaced a few years back. When we did it I took out both settees’ as the floor is screwed down behind the settee fronts. This was a considerable size job as when I had the interior out we also reinforced some areas of the fuel tank that we discovered was corroded. And found the ends of a few of the stringers were delaminating. I did the fuel tank and stringer repair and hired a carpenter to do the wood work.
One thing that is critical for the fit and finish when putting the floor down is it will need shimming on the stringers under the settee fronts. This was missed on my boat and when installing the settee fronts they do not sit flush on the floor. You should have noticed some shims when removing the old floor. Just set the settee fronts down on the floor before screwing down to see where and how much shimming is needed. Picure below is boat with floor removed.
If you have any specific questions I will try to help just ask.
I know some boats have sawn the floor out right up to the settee fronts and just replaced the exposed part of the floor.
All in my boat is now better than when it came out of the factory as the work that we did has reinforced and strengthened areas that were showing weakness and wear.
Good luck with your floor,
Bill Wildner
