Has anyone have experience with Kiwi Feathering Propeller (www.kiwiprops.com).

I would like to replace my two blade martec. I think the prop is slowly distroying itself as well as the cutless bearing. The swinging out of the blades to engage is the problem.

This prop is a three bladed composite with a unique contruction. I first saw some information on them in Sail Maz. The cost of the prop runs around $1000 to 1,500.

I am most interested in any comments anyone would have.... Thanks

The current class rules do not allow for a feathering prop, only the Martec folding prop. There has been some discussion on this issue in our fleet as one of our boats has a feathering prop. He was made to remove and replace it for the NA's a few years ago. His stopping and backing performance under power is FAR superior with the feathering prop over the folding. If you are not class racing it does not make a difference and it appear to have better overall perfomance.

I run an old Martec feathering prop and I love it to bits. I thumb my nose at the rules. But then, I've never tried class racing.
